ThaiWords
The moment you’re most likely to lose a Thai word is on a street in Thailand — you hear it, you ask what it means, and then there’s nowhere to put it. Five minutes later it’s gone.
Hence a WeChat Mini Program rather than an app: WeChat is already open, there’s nothing to download and no account to create, and a word takes one tap to save.
What a card holds
Thai, pronunciation, meaning — three lines on one card. Pronunciation gets its own line in orange, because that’s what actually carries you early on: long before you can read the script, being able to say it is what gets used.
Every entry has a play button. The Mini Program requests microphone permission for exactly one purpose: recording how the word should sound, so revision plays back a real voice rather than relying on a spelling you can’t yet decode.
Search and filters
The search box matches Chinese, Thai and pronunciation at once. That matters more than it sounds — you usually remember “the one that goes mai pen rai”, or you remember the meaning, and the Thai spelling is the part that won’t come back. Searching all three means a word you saved is never lost behind the script.
The list filters by completion, and each entry carries one of four states: to learn, learned, due for review, mastered.
Revision is a flashcard
The review page turns one card at a time: you get the front, you try to recall it, and only then do you reveal the answer. That beats scanning the list top to bottom, which quietly convinces you that having seen something is the same as remembering it.
Six themes, two interface languages
Macaron Candy, Cream Mint, Lavender Dream, Latte Notebook, Island Morning, Midnight Galaxy. Switching a theme repaints the navigation bar too, not just the content area.
The interface switches between Chinese and English, because someone learning Thai isn’t necessarily a native Chinese speaker — and the meaning on a card can be written in either.
How it’s built
A WeChat Mini Program on WeChat Cloud. Data lives in the cloud platform’s JSON document database and the logic sits in cloud functions — WeChat’s private protocol authenticates callers for free, so there’s no account system to build and no server to keep alive.
For a tool whose job is “save one word, right now”, that’s exactly the right amount of machinery: no login screen, no password reset, no server bill.
